Responsibilities:
You will assist and positively motivate asphalt plant operations crews, coordinate with construction operations teams and implementation of facility maintenance in the mutual interest of assuring product quality and completion of the overall plant operations schedule. You will be required to assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of asphalt plant maintenance as
they relate to the Asphalt Plant Preventative Maintenance Program.
The ideal candidate is experienced in the operation of computerized Asphalt Plants and/or Aggregate Equipment Operations, and knowledgeable of quality control/quality assurance of various asphalt and granular materials. The candidate should possess a mechanical aptitude and some experience in basic welding/fabrication, electrical, millwrighting and loader operation.
They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to positively motivate team members, and the willingness to work well independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities, include:
- Assist the plant operator with daily operations and maintenance checks of the plant.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on plant equipment, and complete daily operational and safety reports as required.
- Clean and lubricate critical components of asphalt and other associated plant equipment.
- Analyzing and reporting daily issues with appropriate follow-up action.
- Ability to learn to operate the plant controls to produce hot mix asphalt as per production schedule
- Document daily production/inventory, quality control results, maintenance logs etc.

Requirements and Qualifications:

The qualified person will be required to safely operate various heavy duty vehicles as part of completing a variety of driving duties. The candidate will be required to maintain accurate Drivers Daily Logs following Federal and Provincial regulations and company needs.

- The safe operation of Water Trucks and/or Crash Trucks.

Position Overview:
A General Labourer works with a team in a variety of construction and road building projects. The work is satisfying, physically demanding and involves long days outdoors. You will be involved in the operation of all pertinent machinery on paving/ resurfacing in asphalt or concrete. You will be required to join the union to be hired for this position. Please note that this is a seasonal position from April/May to Nov/Dec. Students returning to school in September MAY be considered but the preference is for candidates available for the full construction season.
Key Responsibilities:
– Operate and maintain a variety of construction tools and small equipment.
– Adhere to quality workmanship standards set forth by the crew and company.
– Clean equipment, facilities and maintain housekeeping on the project site.

Position Overview:
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of construction projects by ensuring quality workmanship and the adherence to technical specifications are top priority. Implementing and monitoring cost containment measures to ensure project profitability and identification of any deviations from the original project plan budget and scope of work. The Construction Supervisor is responsible for, scheduling and supervision of all construction crews/subcontractors’ crews on their assigned projects, ensuring job sites are safe and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects (OHSA and RCP) and that safe work policies and procedures outlined in Capital’s Health and Safety Program are diligently enforced.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee construction projects to ensure they meet objectives including:
– Quality workmanship
– Technical specifications (including minimizing deficiencies)
– Reliability and timeliness
– Scheduling and productivity
– Lead the daily construction activities and hold Foreman accountable for their assigned tasks
– Continually monitor construction project to mitigate risk hazards
– Supervise the daily construction activities and tracking of project costs as they are a key contributor to tracking project profitability.
– Work with estimating personnel to gain understanding of the project estimate and identify opportunities to ensure profitability on the project.
– Track production relative to project estimate and flag any cost related concerns on a pro-active basis to the ProjectManager.
– Work with the site Foremen to support them in giving clear work direction and effective
training to the crew. Ensure Foremen are managing work performance and productivity of crew personnel through regular feedback and guidance to ensure work is being done effectively and that OHSA and Capital’s policies and procedures are being followed.
– Apprise Project Manager of project schedule on a regular basis, and recommend
modifications to resources, schedule, and projected production against estimate if appropriate.
– Take appropriate actions to effectively deal with the implications of delays, inclement
weather, or emergencies at construction site.
– Track delays on site to assist the Project Manager with the preparation of an Extension of Time request as required.
Daily Responsibilities and Expectations:
• Prepare project documentation such as locates, traffic control plans, permits and
safety/environmental plans.
• Measuring quantities for payment and documentation of daily construction productions and any required negotiations with inspectors.
• Coordinate with Contract Administrators, Owner Representatives, and Project Managers of onsite progress and concerns and apprise of any issues encountered.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to crews, including building effective ways to increase productivity.
• Report to the Project Manager for costing and any change in scope of work or working conditions, including the identified trigger for the change
• Conduct frequent inspections of work area, direct corrective action for unsafe conditions and review Job Site Hazard Analysis accordingly.
• Ensure that quality assurance practices are being met. Supervise quality assurance program for field operations and advises Project Manager of non-compliance.
• Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of monthly payment draws.

Responsibilities:
A traffic control foreman is a supervisory position responsible for managing and coordinating traffic control operations at construction sites, roadworks, or other areas where traffic needs to be controlled for safety reasons. The primary role of a traffic control foreman is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and workers in and around the work area. You will be required to assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of medium to large road construction operations as they relate to project-specific construction schedules and budgets.
The ideal candidate is experienced in Construction operations, High volume traffic construction sites, Ontario Book 7 Traffic Conditions. They will possess both excellent interpersonal and communication skills, can manage people, and work well independently and as part of a team. MTO, and Municipal Reconstruction experience would be considered assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- The foreman oversees the setup and installation of traffic control devices such as signs, cones, barricades, temporary signals, and flagging operations. They ensure that these devices are placed correctly and clearly visible to motorists and pedestrians.
- Responsible for maintaining and training staff on proper usage of tools and equipment provided to complete construction tasks. Perform the set up and take down of roadway lane closures.
- Completing and submitting project paperwork daily (timesheets, packing slips, toolbox talks, job hazard assessments, etc.) Securely load and unload traffic control equipment and signage delivering to job sites.
- The foreman manages the flow of traffic in and around the work zone. They coordinate with flaggers, traffic controllers, and other workers to maintain a smooth traffic flow and minimize disruptions. They may also communicate with local law enforcement or traffic management agencies to coordinate road closures or detours if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by Project Supervisors and Project Managers.
Requirements:
- The foreman leads a team of traffic control personnel, providing guidance, instructions, and supervision. They assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training to ensure that all workers understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Possess extensive traffic control conditions, road building and construction knowledge, including previous experience as a Foreperson.
- The foreman maintains accurate records of traffic control activities, including daily logs, incident reports, and equipment inventory.

- Maintain and repair heavy-duty construction vehicles and equipment (includes trucks, trailers, large & small machinery)

- Truck or Heavy Equipment Mechanic, with confirmable experience.
- Apprentices (310T) will be considered.
